5-16-10 update

Aloha HMSRTO Volunteers,
I do not mean to inundate you with emails, but did want you to know that KC has been spotted in the Waialua area. She is looking "very ready" and of course we are unsure where she might decide to haul out and birth her pup.

Just giving everyone a heads up on the possibility of KC's imminent delivery and a possible North Shore/Mokuleia spot.

As you all know scheduling these events is one of the most important aspects of making sure Mom & Pup have protection and monitoring.

I will be sending out a calendar with schedule times as soon as we have an update. I look forward to working with everyone. It has been a while since we had such a great opportunity to work with our HMS and a pupping event, so do hope you will be available and ready to hit the beach.

We also had a spotting of a monk at Waimea Bay this morning. But by the time I got the call, she already had left. She was reported at Waimea at about 8-9am. By 10:15 she had already gone.

I-37 at Sharks Cove 5-03-10

She came back to rest up again. I got a real good look at the gash on her tail which appeared to be healing up just fine, but couldn't do a close up/zoom photo because of technical difficulties. grrrrrrrrr. This was taken from my I-phone

I could see no infections, it looked like somebody took a scapal and with a straight edge cut only the skin and peeled it back a bit. My guess, she doesn't feel a thing.
